Hospitals nationwide, Curry General included, publish a file of their prices — a fairly recent federal rule meant to make this kind of information available to patients. That file is enormous and not really built for a person to sit down and read. This site takes it and does one thing: you type in a test or procedure, and it shows you the number Curry Health Network / Curry General Hospital itself has on file for that exact code — nothing looked up anywhere else, nothing estimated.
This started with a personal problem. We wanted to know what a lab test actually cost before showing up for it, and couldn't find it easily — not on the hospital's own site, not without logging into the billing portal and clicking through a few screens to dig it out. The data was public the whole time. It just wasn't usable.
So that's really all this is: a way to hold a line item from your own bill up against the hospital's own public record for that code. Search the CPT/HCPCS code straight off your bill, or the name of the test, and what comes back is what this specific facility says it charges — the self-pay cash price, the range insurers negotiate, and the hospital's list price. We're not saying anyone's being overcharged, and we're not picking a fight with the hospital. We just think this should be easier to find than it is.
